Quick Post – Azure Services Overview

There is a saying “Can’t see the forest for the trees” this could also apply to Azure and its provided services. I haven’t seen a good overview of Azure and the offered services until today. While browsing the internet, I bumped into this site here http://azureplatform.azurewebsites.net/en-us/ . image

It is an interactive site which shows the single services in each category and provides links to more information like updates, pricing, SLA, documentation etc. image

I love this page and I highly recommend to explore and bookmarking it! It is even available in German :).

User Group – IT Pro Switzerland Experts Live Cafe

I had been very busy recently organizing a new user group event. It isn’t just a user group, it is a part of the Experts Live network. What is “Experts Live Café”? The idea of Experts Live Café is, to get community members together and share know-how, get latest technology insides,  socializing, networking and having a good time. There will be 2 sessions organized per event held by anyone who has an interesting project to share or wants to talk about Microsoft (but not only) technologies. Because it is part of the Experts Live network, there will be some interesting news / concepts behind in the near future.

Together with my MVP buddy Stefan Johner we run these café events and we try to find sponsors to offer the community members free drinks and snacks in a cozy location. We are proud to have Microsoft Switzerland as our first sponsor on board –  big THANK YOU!

Our goal is to run at least 3 such events in 2017. Our first event takes place in Bern, Switzerland April 7th from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm. The first session will be about a Windows 10 rollout at a big Swiss insurance company, the second session needs to be defined. So if you are interested in this event, please check the website at http://itproch.expertslive.cafe/ and follwow us on Twitter @ExpertsLiveCafe, hope to see you there. The site will be updated in the upcoming weeks, to reflect the latest information, so stay tuned!

E2EVC – Session “Microsoft Operations Management Suite (OMS) meets Citrix”

I am very happy to have a session with my buddy MVP Stefan Johner, at the Experts 2 Experts Virtualization Conference 2016 which will take place from November 18th-20th in Rome. E2EVC is a non-commercial, virtualization and Citrix community event. The main goal of the event is to bring the best virtualization and Citrix experts together to exchange knowledge and to establish new connections. After speaking at E2EVC Lisbon in 2015 I am very happy to be back at E2EVC Rome 2016!

The session will take place place on Saturday 19th from 5:45pm till 6:20pm.

Microsoft Operations Management Suite (OMS) meets Citrix. Operations Management Suite (OMS) is the new born star from Microsoft. OMS is a suite of solutions for different Microsoft technologies, but it provides also platform for injecting data via different interfaces. The injected data can be visualized and used for deep data analysis. Stefan and Stefan will give you and overview what OMS can do in terms of Citrix and how it might deliver some ideas how a Citrix administrator can benefit using OMS.

In our session, we will show you what happens if Microsoft Operations Management Suite (OMS) meets with Citrix and VMware. Microsoft OMS is a suite of solutions for different Microsoft technologies, but it also provides a platform for injecting data via different interfaces. The injected data can be visualized and used for deep data analysis. We will give you an overview what OMS can do in terms of Citrix and VMware and how a Citrix or VMware administrator can benefit from using Microsoft Operations Management Suite.

Hope to see you there!

This year I am very proud again, to be part of System Center Universe Europe 2016 at Conference at August 24-26 in Berlin.

I will have two sessions about different topics, the first session will cover the latest about SCOM 2016 and OMS in a Linux world. I will present together with my colleague Stefan Johner (@JohnerStefan) a demo packed session, about the latest and greatest features in both technologies.

The session will be on Wednesday, August 24th 12:00 – 13:00

My second session is a more fun session where we have built an automation “thing”, using all sorts of freely available Azure and other cloud resources to provide a “tool” that gives you some advice when you need it. It is a session that is fun but also shows you things you might not have known. If you want to know more about this session please join my fellow MVP Stefan Koell (@stefankoell) and me in Berlin.

Quick Post – PowerShell Blog HellShell.com

This blog has been up and running for a couple of years now. I mainly blog about System Center and OMS. During my daily work, I am using PowerShell a lot and sometimes I am able to figure out some cool stuff or would like to share some challenges I faced. In my opinion is this blog, http://stefanroth.net,  the wrong place for sharing PowerShell-only information and therefore I created another blog http://HellShell.com . As I mentioned I will write about PowerShell only, nothing else. If you are interested please follow my new blog and also on Twitter @hellshell_com. Currently there are only few posts published, but it will grow in the near future. I hope to provide you some additional help with my posts. If you have a some suggestions or comments please comment on this or the new blog.

SCOM 2016 TP5 – What’s New

image Few days ago Microsoft released the technical preview of it’s Windows Server and System Center stack. One thing I am very interested in is SCOM, if there is anything new.  To download all new TP 5 products see these links…

The known new features are the following…

Alert Data Management

If you have been working with SCOM for a while you know, that tuning SCOM is not a thing that you can do once and then it is done. Tuning is a a process in a SCOM admins daily life, which takes some time, but if you do it periodically / daily SCOM and the result will be a monitoring environment that is alerting whenever there is a REAL issue. Microsoft is providing a new capability which will support you in tuning your environment.
